That's my mom and that's Woody in the background. We were at a Lake Huron cottage on Bruce Beach, just south of Kincardine, Ontario. My mom used to love to sit and watch the lake, listening to the harmony she said she could hear in the waves.
When I look closely at our family pictures Woody appears in the most unexpected places. My hope is that in this shot he wasn't under the lemonade stand lapping up the product.
When I came across this photograph, two questions came to mind:
1) Why was I letting Ted stand on a tippy sofa cushion with nothing but a wobbly side table to hang on to - because I just happen to know there was a wooden coffee table in front of that sofa and it had very sharp corners, and
2) What the heck was he doing?
So, I took the photo out of the album and flipped it over. I had written on the back what Ted had said to me; "Hey Mom, this is just like church!"

I would have had my skates on, too, but I was seven months pregnant with Marshall and afraid I'd fall over!
